Do mature students applying for a place on undergraduate medicine need to sit the HPAT Ireland exam?

In all cases the medical admissions test, HPAT Ireland exam, is required for mature applicants to undergraduate medicine. As HPAT Ireland exam results form part of the selection procedure for mature applicants, results will be sent to the universities for short-listing purposes prior to the official release of results.

How can I apply for undergraduate medicine as a mature student (23 years or over by 1st January)?

Mature candidates must apply for undergraduate medicine courses through the CAO at www.cao.ie For those applying for a place on grounds of mature years, the minimum educational requirements, and places available for mature students are available from each institution. Note that Mature Entry applicants often present a third-level qualification, but this is not an essential requirement for consideration.

When are exam results released for mature students?

The results are usually released in mid-late April for mature applicants.
